Infinity Braids

Today I decided to try something called 'Infinity braid'. I was originally inspired by CuteGirlsHairstyles (check them out if you want to learn well...cute girls hair styles! haha) so I wanted to try this today. I have made some a looong time ago, so mine are still a bit wonky looking, but practice makes perfect right? :D
At first I had tried something completely different, but I gave up on that, (it was a 4 strand French braid) so I'll have to get back to that one!
With the 'Infinity Braid' first my plan was to only have two that met in the back and then the rest of the hair loose, but since I had parted the hair side-ways I decided to just have one large one with all the hair in the back as well.
It is a perfect braid to do for school, because it takes just a few minutes to do! And it's so so beautiful I think!
It's also really really tight which is perfect for school as it's not going to loosen during play.

As you  can see it's a little wonky, but it's going to be with hair as with everything else! Practice practice and I am sure next time I do this it'll be even better!
If you want to watch a tutorial on how to easily do an infinity braid, I would recommend this one:

I find them very easy to follow and they have great videos!

I have also been thinking of setting up a separate blog just our hair styles because I feel that clogging this blog up with it sort of takes the focus away from what it's initially about, BUT I will e posting on here as well with a LINK to the other blog once I have set that up. :)

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Dutch Braids - Around We Go!

Exactly when I made  this one for school I actually don't remember, I think it was Friday last week. But I really really liked it. :)
It actually started as a normal 'Dutch head band' braid and then I sort of just continued hehe.

I was fairly happy with the result, nothing I do is top of the market or professional, but I enjoy it and I think she looks really nice for school. For a while I seamed to be the only parent who did anything "drastic" to the hair, but today when I picked up I saw a couple of other little girls with more exciting hair than they had last week so maybe I'm starting a "trend"? haha

Who knows how long I can keep it up though, but it's fun while it lasts!

Caitiebelle has curly hair, but it's quite thin compared to my hair and her brothers hair. This is one of the reasons (I think?) that braids on her tend to end up quite thin now and again.

Next time I might not gather them  together into one braid at the bottom (unless her hair has grown even longer by then!) but in stead get a pretty elastic with a flower or something and tie them together. I think that would look really nice. :)

It was 'Mufti' day at school so no uniforms. :) Her hair had a little bit 'rough look' compared to when she was delivered to school, but I still think it's an excellent school hair style because it does keep even through play.

Have you ever done anything like this? What did you think of my first try?

Three French Braids into a Bun

Today's school hair, french braids into a bun.

This is Monday's school hair. :) It's not hard to do, but it does take a little bit of time, at least until you have practised it a little. I just wish I had a big bow or something... I need to invest! ha ha
I am aware that this has nothing to do with in-car safety etc, which is what the blog is mainly about, but sometimes I feel it's nice to just put in the small things that makes us smile, in-car safety and car seats a lot of the time does *not* make me smile, so I like to share the moments we treasure as well. :)
I love doing hair, maybe I should try to get some proper course done for it haha, because I try to use my own imagination a lot of the time, and other times I try to copy from other hair tutorials. :)

This took me about 30 min to do, not including wetting the hair. I also couldn't find my hairspray which was very annoying! So I hope it will stick nice throughout the day.

Before hair bands were covered.

I really need  to get some hair appliances like little bows and ribbons. That's really on my shopping list! It would looks so amazing if I threaded some ribbon in  this!

Trying to cover those hair bands! I need some bows...
I tried to cover the hair bands using some bobby-pins but I really need to buy some in her hair colour. :)

Can be used for sports too!

I love these!

Sat like glue when I picked her up. :)

On our way to school!

What do you think? I know she has quite a lot of the pesky baby hairs sticking out at the front etc but I didn't have any hair product to put in to keep it in. :)

Fast & Easy School-Hair!

5:26 pm ERFmama 0 Comments

I sometimes get the impression I'm the only one who spends time doing my daughter's hair for school every morning.. Hehe. I just like doing it and since the girls with long hair are not allowed to have it loose without anything in it, I tend to want it to be more than just a dull ponytail.

For a long period now Caitlyn has been wanting to have her hair loose without anything in it, so I have had to just mix that in with a couple of simple French braids at the top or something like that and leave the rest of the hair loose down her back, but at least that has gotten it out of her eyes and would still be within regulations.
Today's school hair is actually a mix between yesterday's and two added corn-roses today as you can see in the back. At the top I just simply made to sections and divided a part a little to the side, flipped and pushed the hair (with a hair-band) through and pulled it tight. It's very simple, fast and I think it looks nice with just a simple twist like that in it. :D
